Current Progress on Voter Roll Removals
Statewide Achievement: As of June 2025, the California Election Integrity Initiative, led by Shiloh Marx and supported by Joey Lopez, has facilitated the removal of over 1.3 million inactive and ineligible voter registrations across California’s 57 counties, ensuring compliance with the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA).
County-Level Efforts: Progress varies by county, with detailed records requests driving the identification of outdated registrations. For specifics on your county’s status, provide your county name, and we’ll share the latest updates.
Lawsuits and Statutory Notices
Active Lawsuits: The Initiative has filed lawsuits in multiple counties to enforce NVRA compliance, targeting deficiencies in voter roll maintenance. These legal actions address failures to remove ineligible voters, such as those who have moved or passed away, per Section 8 of the NVRA.
Statutory Notices: Notices have been sent to non-compliant counties, giving them an opportunity to correct voter roll issues before legal escalation, as required by NVRA’s enforcement provisions (Section 11).
